Year 2 - Maths day

Year 2, along with the rest of the school dressed up maths themed today to celebrate maths week!

Children took part in cross-curricular activities. We had Computing maths, Science maths, Art maths, PE maths and Music maths!

In computing we had began to explore mathletics!

In science we are learning about plants. We made plants using 2D shapes.

In PE we estimated how many star jumps, turns, shuttle runs and bunny hops we could do in one minute!

We also estimated how many sweets in a jar!

The children who got the closest estimate got to take the sweets home! The children found out the answers during the whole class assembly at the end of the day!

How many sweets do think are in each jar?

scroll down to find out....

Jar 1 = 24
Jar 2 = 97
Jar 3 = 39
Jar 4 = 54
Jar 5 = 25

Well done to our super mathematicians who estimated the closest to each jar!

Jar 1 - Juelz - estimate 25
Jar 2 - Phoebe estimate 99
Jar 3 - Connor - estimate 40
Jar 4 - Rosie estimate 52
Jar 5 - Daniel estimate 26

Finally during the assembly Miss Staples had one final jar of sweets.....

She asked every class in assembly to estimate how many sweets were in the jar. The class who got closest to this estimate would win the jar for their class.

Can you guess how many starburst are in the jar???
