Recently in year 2 we have been doing lots reading and writing about Flat Stanley, a brilliant book by Jeff Brown.
For multicultural week we decided to send Flat Stanley around the world!
Children decided where they wanted to send Flat Stanley and had to find an address to send it to. We sealed him tightly in an envelope and walked to our local, red postbox to send him. We can't wait to find out about his adventures!
Hemanth in year 2ML has already received a reply from Prince Edward!
This half term in P.E, Year 4 have been learning how to play Cricket with Mr. Mac (Premier Sports). The children have learned bowling and batting techniques and have put their skills to test by playing Cricket matches!
We've been extremely active this week, with us having a sports related almost everyday! Today, we had Carly come in from 5 A Day to assess our fitness in a pentathlon. We had to initially Warm up; Throw it; Move it; Balance it; Sprint then finally Step up!
As part of our last science topic
animals and plants thrive in your locality?’, Year 4 have been learning about plants
and animals in their natural environment. We also learned about the importance of
food chains and the causes of animal extinction.
For our last science lesson, we learned about classification keys which distinguish between different types of animals and plants.
Year 4 were set the task to create their own classification keys for liquorice allsorts! The class worked well in partners to create a key to classify the various shaped and coloured sweets!
In Year 3, as part of our Mayan topic, we had a chocolatier come in called Derek. He taught us about the history of chocolate and we even made our own chocolate creations. Do you think they look delicious?
In recognition of the Queen's 90th birthday, we all came into school dressed in red, white and blue to join in the national celebrations. We had lots of fun, as we learnt lots of facts about the longest reigning female monarch. There were additional celebrations in one of our classes (Year 5), where Zain was jointly celebrating his 10th birthday today. He was amazed to hear that his sister had secretly written to the Queen and they had received a response back - and this was read to the school during assembly, also.
