Funky sock day for H.A.D - Havering associations for people with disabilities

Last week children turned up to school wearing their funkiest socks and tights in order to raise lots of money for an amazing local charity H.A.D. Based in Hornchurch, Havering Association for people living with disabilities provides a broad range of services and activities for people with physical disabilities and carers in Havering with the object of improving their quality of live, promote imdependence and meet their physical, emotional and recreational needs. 

It was so wonderful to be able to support and fund-raise for a very worthwhile local charity.

On the day, Grant from H.A.D came in to tell us a little about the charity and the fantastic work they do. 

In return for wearing funky socks and tights children were asked to donate their silver coins and the class who raised the most would win a prize. Here are our top three class

3rd - raising £53.97  Year 2DK

2nd - raising £70.60 Year 4JI 

1st - raising an impressive £78.95Year 1HM/TF

We also had a name the bunny raffle.

Children in Need - Yellow class

Yellow class have been thinking about Children in Need this week. We learnt that Children in Need is a charity that fund raises to make a real difference to the lives of children all across the UK. They aim to ensure that every child in the UK has a childhood that is: 

Safe
Happy and Secure
Allows them a chance to reach their potential

3AK - Wig-tastic Thursday!

We had a Wig-tastic Thursday, raising money for Clic Sargent!

Children in need - Superhero day!

This year the school council decided they were going to raise money for Children in Need. After getting some ideas from their classes the school council met and voted on a superhero dress theme. They also decided on a other activities, a superhero fashion show and some superhero crafts at lunchtime, to help raise some additional funds.


The day was a fantastic success, with so many dressing up in different superhero outfits!

The superhero craft activity was a hit with nearly 70 children attending!

The fashion show was the highlight of the day. We saw some extraordinary catwalks and some amazing superhero outfits.

In total we raise over £280 for Children in Need!!!!
