Year 2DK - Protect the Bees
As part of Earth day 🌎 last week Year 2DK learnt about Bees 🐝 and why it is so important that we protect and look after them. We took part in a art tutorial to draw a bee and made flowers to explain why it is important to look after them. 🐝 🌸 🍎 We also tried some Honey! I was blown away with all their amazing drawings and flowers. 😃I can’t wait to put them on display. Well done Year 2DK! 👍

Year 2DK- Big Write
I absolutely love teaching big write in 2DK. After such a long time since children have written in the classroom I have been SUPER impressed with Year 2’s big writes this half term.
Children have been retelling fairy tales and writing some brilliant explanation texts.
I can’t wait to see more of your fabulous writing next term and throughout the rest of the year.
Well done. Keep up the great work.

Years 1 and 2 - World Book Day
On World Book Day, the children came to school dressed as a book character and took part in a variety of cross-curricular activities throughout the day.
Can you spot wally in this display board?
As Miss Shah was dressed as the gingerbread man, the children took part in different P.E activities to see if they can 'run run as fast as you can...'
After training so hard, the children were treated to a yummy gingerbread man!
In Mrs Lacey's class the 3 bears had come to visit so the children made some porridge using their measurement maths skills.
They then investigated what made porridge yummy!
I think everyone agreed it wasn't marmite!
Finally they got to eat it all up before Goldilocks arrived!
We also did the disappearing gummy bear investigation - we are still rerecording our results

2NL- Design a House for the 3 Pigs
In science we have been looking at the properties and suitability of different materials.
The class were set the task of designing a house suitable for the 3 Pigs.
First they looked at the different everyday materials they could use.
Next they designed their house.
Then they built them and made their predictions.
Finally they investigated which would withstand the huff and puff of the big bad wolf and a rainy day!
They ensured it was a fair test by using the same settings on the hairdryer, the same amount of squirts of water and measured the same distance.
They were surprised by some of our results!

Miss Shah's Phonics group - Adjectives
We previously learned what a noun is in Miss Shah's phonics group. In today's lesson, we learned that an adjective is a describing word. We looked for nouns around the classroom and playground. We then wrote down some adjectives to describe them!
