6MB's 'wonder'ful Big Writes 🤩

In 6MB, we have just started reading 'The Nowhere Emporium' by Ross MacKenzie

It is about a young Daniel Holmes who stumbles across the most amazing place... an Emporium full of magic, delight and wonder!

6MB were transported into the Emporium themselves and were left in awe the at the 'wonders' they found mysteriously taped to the bottom of their chairs!

They then used what they had discovered to create an information text on the wonder they had found.

Here are some of the wonders that they discovered:

Here is Katie's Big Write - beautifully presented, intriguing and wonderfully descriptive!

Year 2DK- Big Write

I absolutely love teaching big write in 2DK. After such a long time since children have written in the classroom I have been SUPER impressed with Year 2’s big writes this half term.

Children have been retelling fairy tales and writing some brilliant explanation texts.

I can’t wait to see more of your fabulous writing next term and throughout the rest of the year.

Well done. Keep up the great work.

2NL- Shhh don't let Mrs Lacey catch you!

2NL were each given a bag crisps.
They had to write instructions using imperative verbs, adverbs of time and manner on how to eat them silently so that Mrs Lacey didn't catch them!

Once they had written their instructions, they put them to the test....

2NL needs an elf!

2Nl were desperate for an elf so they decided to write a persuasive letter to Santa. They had to describe the elf they wanted and give 3 reasons why they thought the class deserved one.

Year 2 - Perfume for Sale!

After our successful science project, where Year 2 made their own perfume samples, the children decided they wanted to make an advert to sell their fabulous creations.

They had to think about exaggerated language, a snappy slogan, appealing adjectives as well as any special offers persuading people to buy it.

2NL - Big Write

In literacy we
have been learning how to write instructions.

For Big Write Mrs Lacey set us the task of writing a set of instructions on how to eat crisps silently!
We produced some fabulous instructions using imperative (bossy) verbs, adverbs of time and manner.
We were so successful we managed to eat our crisps without Mrs Lacey noticing!!

Year 2 - Big Write

Last Friday, Year 2 walked into a classroom full of balloons and a chiming clock...
They were very puzzled!
Then they watched a short animation about the the mysterious girl stuck in the clock tower...

As part of our unit on fairytales and traditional stories our Big Write was to focus on writing an ending as interesting as our beginning.

 Some fabulous writing was produced.

Big Write - 2NL

In literacy we have been studying traditional fairy-tales.
For BIG WRITE the children retold the story of Hansel and Gretel.

First they had to order the storyboard correctly.

After that, they planned their stories using lots of adjectives.
They then got to write their stories using adverbs of time and descriptive language.
Some fabulous work was produced.

Finally, as part of  storytelling week they got to make puppets and act out their fairy-tale...
