Year 2 - Flat Stanley Project

Recently in year 2 we have been doing lots reading and writing about Flat Stanley, a brilliant book by Jeff Brown.

For multicultural week we decided to send Flat Stanley around the world!

Children decided where they wanted to send Flat Stanley and had to find an address to send it to. We sealed him tightly in an envelope and walked to our local, red postbox to send him. We can't wait to find out about his adventures!

Hemanth in year 2ML has already received a reply from Prince Edward!

We can't wait to find out where else he goes!

Year 4 - P.E

This half term in P.E, Year 4 have been learning how to play Cricket with Mr. Mac (Premier Sports). The children have learned bowling and batting techniques and have put their skills to test by playing Cricket matches!

Year 4 - 5 a day Pentathlon

Year 4 took part in a '5 a day Pentathlon' which involved the children completing various activities to test their stamina, balance and throwing skills!

The children thoroughly enjoyed the session and learned a lot more about their own basic P.E skills!

Yr1's visit to St Andrew's Church, Hornchurch

On Tuesday we visited one of our local landmarks and discovered some very interesting facts about St Andrew's Church.

Why don't you pop along to St Andrew's Church for a welcoming chat and also find out about the why our area is called - Hornchurch.

Whilst there, the children also had an opportunity to tour the church and try their hands at ringing the church bells.   If you were in Hornchurch on Tuesday morning, did you hear us?

We celebrated Queen Elizabeth's 90th birthday!

In recognition of the Queen's 90th birthday, we all came into school dressed in red, white and blue to join in the national celebrations.  We had lots of fun, as we learnt lots of facts about the longest reigning female monarch. There were additional celebrations in one of our classes (Year 5), where Zain was jointly celebrating his 10th birthday today.  He was amazed to hear that his sister had secretly written to the Queen and they had received a response back - and this was read to the school during assembly, also.

As part of Suttons Primary multi-cultural week year 2 took part in some Bollywood Dancing and they had lots of fun!

Year 2 become authors!

In December all children in Year 2 wrote some fantastic superhero stories which were sent off as part of a writing competition.

Unfortunately we did not win the overall competition however many of the children's work were chosen to be published in a book!

Finally the wait is over and our book has arrived!

'Superhero Adventures!' has over 20 of the children's stories in.

You can read Eddy's 'Animal Man Saves Christmas', Erin's 'Super Maths' or George's 'Super Ant!'

Parents and carers were able to purchase this book and the school received a copy as well so if you would like to read some of our spectacular writing please just ask.

We are so proud of the children's writing and it is wonderful to see how their work published like real authors!

Well done Year 2!!!
