World Book Day - Thursday 7th March

We are looking forward to seeing all your wonderful world book day costumes next Thursday!

6PM Cook Viking Stew!

As our latest topic is all about the Vikings, 6PM kicked off the half-term with a fun cooking activity!

We thought about what a good meal for a Viking invader would be, and decided that a rich, meaty stew would provide plenty of protein and energy for a long voyage on Viking longship!

As we have several children in the class who do not eat meat, we also made a vegetarian version of the stew.

Here you can see children chopping vegetables, browning onions and garlic, and then adding the meat or alternatives to the saucepans.

We also mixed up gravy (either meat-based or vegetarian) and added that to the pan.

We let it simmer down and get nice and thick! Then Mrs Overton kindly served up the stew into takeaway tins so the class could take them away and enjoy them at home!

As part of our Computing unit 'We are Cryptographers' 5KR enjoyed learning how to communicate via semaphore today.

Can you guess the words we have made?

Year 1 - Zoolab

As part of our learning for science, we were visited by Tom from Zoolab for our 'wow' experience. The children had an interactive and informative time meeting lots of different animals such as a snake, spider and a frog. The children were fascinated by the facts that Tom shared and were enthralled with the animal handling.

Thank you Tom for the wonderful experience!
