Last week, Year 2 dressed in their travelling clothes and hopped aboard Jet2 and flew to Africa!
First the children had to make their own boarding passes and passports using lots of interesting language to describe themselves and their destination (literacy).
Their first stop was Ghana where they applied their maths knowledge of 2D shapes to design geometric repeating patterns on tiles
before printing their African patterns onto fabric.
Next we visited Uganda and used our DT skills to design and create an African inspired Fruit Salad. The children enjoyed tasting new and exotic fruit such as Mango, Sharon fruit and Avocado.
In Ethiopia we used our ICT skills to research the different types of African flag before we drew, coloured and made them.
In Kenya we made African animal masks...
and necklaces inspired by the Masai tribe
Finally, we visited Cameron and made some African inspired drums.
At the end of the day parents were invited into class to look at all the wonderful work the children have created both at home and at school.
