Harvest Festival

On Friday 18th October, Suttons Primary celebrated the Harvest Festival.
Every class brought in food/other items to donate to Harold Hill food bank. Thank you very much for your kind donations.
The children and staff also dressed in autumnal colours such as yellow, orange, brown and maroon.

As part of the celebrations, each year group took part in a Harvest trail.

Key stage 2 children had to answer questions about Harvest and work out the secret message.

Key Stage 1 and Early years had to hunt around the playground to find the fruit and vegetables on their list.

Year 1MS - Holi

As Holi marks the start of spring, year 1 got creative in their R.E lesson to mark the occasion.

We spoke about how trees change from winter to spring and how colourful and amazing Holi looks!

We wanted to combine both the amazing colours of Holi and the change in trees during spring so we tried finger painting to create some colourful trees!

Year 1 - Pancake day!

On Tuesday 5th March, year 1 cooked pancakes to celebrate Pancake Day. The children were pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to make the pancakes and were even more impressed when eating their delicious creations!

A huge thank you to Mrs Mason who proved herself to be a pancake cooking pro. Your help was very much needed and appreciated!

Do you know the ingredients that are needed for pancakes?

A well needed break to sing our favourite song. Can you guess what it is?

Year 2 trip to St Andrews Church

Last week, Year 2 went on an informative school trip to find out about St Andrews church as part of our RE topic this term.

We got to learn about all the different things that happen in a church.
We even got to stand at the lectern and read some words from the bible.
However our favourite part was climbing up the steep stone steps to the bell tower where we got to ring the bells!

We met Bell-Ringer Tony who was once a pupil of Suttons school back in 1944!

1MS - Follow the leader...

In R.E we have been learning about leaders in different religions. What are the important qualities needed to make a good leader?

We played a game of 'follow the leader' to understand what it really is like being a leader and a follower.

After the game we discussed the qualities the leaders needed. The children mentioned that the leaders needed to make good decisions, be sensible and check that their followers are listening well.

Can you think of any other good qualities needed to be a leader?

Happy Diwali from Yellow class!

Yellow class have been looking at Diwali and the story of Rama and Sita this week. Our role play is dedicated to Diwali and we have been dressing up in some traditional Indian clothes. We also created Rangoli patterns using tissue paper and scissors to create a snowflake windows. Have a look at what we have been doing!
