As our latest
topic is all about the Vikings, 6PM kicked off the half-term with a fun cooking
activity!
We thought
about what a good meal for a Viking invader would be, and decided that a rich,
meaty stew would provide plenty of protein and energy for a long voyage on
Viking longship!
As we have
several children in the class who do not eat meat, we also made a vegetarian
version of the stew.
Here you can
see children chopping vegetables, browning onions and garlic, and then adding
the meat or alternatives to the saucepans.
We also mixed
up gravy (either meat-based or vegetarian) and added that to the pan.
We let it
simmer down and get nice and thick! Then Mrs Overton kindly served up the stew
into takeaway tins so the class could take them away and enjoy them at home!
