Year One had a fantastic time at our “Farm to Fork” workshop Barleylands Farm today!
We listened carefully as the Barleylands staff explained how flour and other grains are made. We were then able to mix flour with water, yeast and salt to create our own pizza bases which we topped with a variety of vegetables grown on the farm!
We went on a tractor ride to see the fields of crops and some larger animals before we returned to a smaller barn and got first hand experience of feeding some smaller animals, such as goats, sheep, hens and rabbits!
We were also lucky enough to visit the ‘Barleylands discovery barn’ where we could actually grind our own flour. While we were there he also got a chance to see some reptiles!
