Nursery - Working together on a bug hunt

Nursery went on a bug hunt today but their challenge this morning was to find a partner and take turns marking off the bugs found.
It was amazing to see the sharing, team work and communication taking place!
Very well done Nursery.

Nursery - Telling the story of... The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Earlier this week Nursery used carrot sticks, celery sticks and cucumber slices to retell the story of a caterpillar growing into a beautiful butterfly.

Dylan:
Four wings. One, two, three, four.

Erin:
There was once a caterpillar. Then it wiggle. Ate it all up. Pop out comes a beautiful butterfly.

Reuben:
Pop comes a butterfly.

Then they enjoyed eating up all the healthy snacks!

Aariel: Carrot, its healthy.
Sofia: And cucumber is healthy!
Reuben: Mrs Kappes loves celery. Can she have some?

Year 1MS - Fruits

As part of the 'Time Explorers' project, year 1 learned about the importance an orange played in Father John Gerald's escape from the Tower of London.

For art, we decided to paint various fruits such as oranges, apples and grapes.

However, Miss Shah didn't make it easy for the class! The children had to use the three primary colours to mix together and then paint the different fruits.

The children were amazed at how the colours changed when mixed and were fascinated at the different shades they could make.

Do you know the primary and secondary colours?

Digestive System Experiment 4JI

As part of our science learning, the children got the chance to recreate what happens in our digestive system, using a pair of tights, crackers, half a banana and a plastic cup.

Some children really enjoyed the experiment! Others found the whole process a little queasy!

RML - Miss Shah

In Miss Shah's RML group, the children had to write about the game of 'Hide and Seek' using the power word 'crammed'.

To gain some first hand experience, we actually played hide and seek!

We came back to class and spoke about how we were feeling when we were hiding and what we could hear and see when hiding.

Miss Shah was very impressed with the children's writing!

1MS - Wild Plant Hunt - Science

Year 1 walked around the school grounds looking for wild plants such as dandelions and daises as part of their science topic.

We made a tally of the wild plants that we saw as stated on the worksheet. We were very lucky as we saw a lot of wild plants but we were unable to find any buttercups! We'll try again in the summer!
