Year 4- Verulamium Museum
On Tuesday 22nd March 2016, Year 4 went to the Verulamium Museum as part of their Roman Topic. After an eventful coach journey, the children were very excited to enter the Museum.
We firstly watched a video about the history of the town of Verulamium and then we explored the various rooms in the Museum. Each room was labelled and had different artefacts. For example, there was a food and farming room which showed us the types of food the Romans ate and the uses of animals in Roman times.Year 4 thoroughly enjoyed exploring the rooms. Afterwards, we had an artefact workshop where we were able to touch actual Roman artefacts from 2000 years ago! The tables represented different rooms in a house and as a group we had to guess what we thought each artefact was used for. Year 4 were very intrigued by many of the objects. A couple of the children also had the opportunity to dress up as Roman citizens! Overall it was an enjoyable and great learning experience for year 4 who were able to put their Roman knowledge into practice and learn some more interesting facts!
