Happy Diwali! - Green Class

Green class enjoyed learning about Diwali!  We learnt that Diwali is a festival of light and is celebrated around the world by Hindus, Sikhs and Jains.

We made Rangoli patterns using different coloured rice and used chalk outside to make larger Rangoli patterns on the playground.  We acted out the story of Rama and Sita and also made some pretty Mehndi patterns!

Colourful chalk Rangoli patterns - we worked hard as a team!

We had a lot of fun acting out the story of Diwali!

Children in Need Day - Friday, 13th November - Green class

We all had great fun last Friday in Green Class.

We did lots of PE with Joe Wicks in his 24-hour challenge and enjoyed completing lots of different activities with our friend Pudsey Bear!  We also loved dressing up in our PJs and raised lots of money for a very worthwhile cause!

Year 3 Remembrance work

Year 3 have worked exceptionally hard this week and have had some fantastic discussions about remembrance, gratitude and what we can do to help those who help us.

The children all made poppies to create the silhouette of the Last Tommy and Nurse Tina. The children learn that The Last Tommy was a way to remember the soldiers of the First World War which was when Remembrance Day as we know it originated from. Nurse Tina was a representation of all the NHS and military nurses/ doctors/ staff and anyone else involved. The children were told of Corporal Tina Maddams, a nurse who has served abroad as well as undertook multiple roles within the NHS. As the festival of remembrance on Saturday night (BBC) highlighted, the partnership between the NHS and the military services has been vital throughout the pandemic. The children and staff are immensely grateful and thankful for all military and emergency service workers.

The children also designed medals for NHS workers after seeing some of Corporal Maddams medals.

The year 3 team are extremely proud of all the children in year 3 for being so thoughtful and creative.

6MB's 'wonder'ful Big Writes 🤩

In 6MB, we have just started reading 'The Nowhere Emporium' by Ross MacKenzie

It is about a young Daniel Holmes who stumbles across the most amazing place... an Emporium full of magic, delight and wonder!

6MB were transported into the Emporium themselves and were left in awe the at the 'wonders' they found mysteriously taped to the bottom of their chairs!

They then used what they had discovered to create an information text on the wonder they had found.

Here are some of the wonders that they discovered:

Here is Katie's Big Write - beautifully presented, intriguing and wonderfully descriptive!

Nursery Class

Our first paintings in Nursery.

We used mirrors to look at ourselves.   We wanted our paintings to look just like us.

We looked carefully at the shape of our face and what we need to paint.

We choose carefully the colours we thought our face, eyes, nose, mouth and hair was.

We talked about our paintings.  We counted how many eyes we had.

We have made a display in Nursery of all of our friends.

Green Class Autumn Leaf Hunt

In Reception, we have been very busy learning about autumn.

We went on a nature walk around the school and looked at how the shrubs and trees were changing.  We saw that the leaves were falling from the trees and had changed colour to lovely russets, browns, oranges and yellows.

We gathered our leaves and used them to make the spikes on our hedgehogs.

We got very muddy but we had good fun!

Look what I've found!
Gathering lots of colourful leaves!

Having lots of fun running around on our leaf hunt!

Our finished display!  We love our hedgehogs!
